A DAY OF REST IS ALWAYS NEEDED TO REFRESH OUR BODY, AND MIND AND SPIRIT.
Jesus said to come to Him, and He will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to Me, all you who labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
After God finished His work in creation, He ceased His work at that time.
Genesis 2:1-2 (New King James)
Thus the heavens and the earth, all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done.
The Hebrew word used here means to be at peace, and settled from activity.
When we are at rest, we are quiet and composed and peaceful. Peaceful with God and others.
The Lord gives us perfect peace and rest for our mind, will and emotions.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
When we are at rest, we are released from anxiety and worry and doubt.
Where we have been preparing and planning, keeping our mind busy with details, we are not resting our mind.
We have to stop striving and put the eyes of our heart back on Jesus.
Reread Matthew 11:28.
When you take a day of rest to be refreshed in your body, mind and spirit, trusting in the Lord to handle things, God will bless that day.
God gave the Israelites the Sabbath days rest.
In the new covenant Jesus is our rest when we come to Him.
Beloved, spend some time enjoying God's creation.
Love His animals and birds, spend time to rest your mind by changing your focus on God's beautiful creation.
Whether it is a lake, park, or your own yard.
Our bodies are made to have that rest. Its healing to the cells in our body.
Start your day with prayer and praise and ask God to direct your steps in the day of rest.
Shut out all media, and clear your mind.
Fill up with God's word, let it speak to you.
Have some fun and laughter, it is good medicine.
Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
That is where arthritis comes from.
When we carry around a heavy heart, and not turn everything over to Jesus it will effect our body.
Holding on to unforgiveness, forgive and the blood of Jesus will cleanse you.
Let the Holy Spirit refresh you. Enjoy your day off from the usual. REST!
