OUR GOD OF LOVE, ALSO HAS THINGS THAT HE HATES.

SINCE WE ARE MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD, WE TOO, CAN LOVE AND HATE.

We can hate evil.

Proverbs 6:16-19

These six things the Lord hates. Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

A proud look. a lying tongue. Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans,  Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

The Hebrew word for hate is strong. You can trace it back to animosity, a thorny seed.

Malachi 1:2-3

I have Loved you, says the Lord. "Yet you say, in what way have You loved us?  Was not Esau Jacobs brother?" says the Lord. Yet Jacob I have loved; But Esau I have hated, and laid waste his mountains and his heritage for jackals of the wilderness.

Esau, gave away his birthright for something to satisfy his flesh.  A bowl of stew. (Think on this)

God's emotions were strong about Esau.

Love is the opposite of hate. Those two emotions, can heal, or destroy.

The word hate appears 145 times in the old Testament.

Zechariah 8:17

Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor;  And do not love a false oath.  For all these, are things that I hate.

In Isaiah 1:10 -20, (read it all to get a clear picture)

God gave Sodom and Gomorrah time to repent.

He explained to them what He hated. (verse 14)

Our gracious Lord gave them plenty of time to repent, but they would not!

God hated all their religious activity mixed with their sin.

Revelation 2:6 (Jesus speaking about certain churches)

But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

What was the sin of the Nicolaitans?

They had mixed paganism with the occult, and Christianity. We see some of this today don't we?

Pray for all that call themselves the church.

Like with us, when we mess up, He gives us time to repent. Jesus mentions repent over and over in thee letters to the churches.

Sometimes God uses tough love to get our attention.

He will allow us to go just so far, and since we belong to Jesus, He will deal with us.

There is a hook in our jaw, He will reel it in!

Psalm 97:10-12

You who love the Lord, hate evil!  He preserves the soul of His saints;  He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.  Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,  And give thanks at the remembrance of His Holy name.

Ecclesiastes 3:8

A time to love and a time to hate.

Since we are made in the image of God, we can both love and hate, but better to love,

We should hate evil, but love people.

Jesus came to show us the better way. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Beloved, don't harm your body and mind with hate.

Love will give your soul rest and peace.

We can be angry about something, but never hold that in our heart where it can turn to hate.

James 1:19-20

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Our New Testament gives us a clear picture that we are to follow. LOVE!

We have the fleshly ability to hate, but we have the Holy Spirit to teach us to love people.

1John 4:7-8

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God, He who does not love, does not know God, for God is love.

Love is the final word, the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians  5:14

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

It's okay to hate some things that are evil, but not people.

Never hate people that Jesus died for. That He gave His life for and desires that they will be saved.

God bless your day

Jesus loves you

Love in Jesus
