RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH
There is a habit that some Christians have in just picking out a verse and running with it.
They are not getting the whole of the message when they do that.
Rightly dividing the word of God takes reading the chapter. To get the full impact of the scripture.
We quote Jerimiah 29:11 And we fail to see the context of the message.
The Children of Israel were on their way to bondage.
Jerimiah 29:10-13
For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
After the children of Israel return from Babylon, then this word will apply to them.
Hopefully they carried that word in their heart for the seventy years.
Here's another scripture often taken out of context.
Philippians 4:12-14
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. In every where in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.
Paul was speaking about his food and supplies.
These are the all things he was speaking of.
Keep God's word in context and you will have a greater understanding of the meaning.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for those that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Please notice this verse is about those who love God, and are THE CALLED according to His purpose.
If you love God, and are doing His will and and following the Holy Spirit in your life, then all things will work together for your good.
Anyone who loves Jesus will obey his word, and will be His disciple.
Obedience is for your own good. There are blessings that come from being obedient.
Beloved, as you read God's word, make the effort to include the Holy Spirit and ask Him what you need to remember from this word.
Our faith is far more than just our believing. Faith demands action. It is alive and active with results.
Like with John 3:16.
The context is about love. Yes, giving is involved, but the giving of love far out weighs the monetary giving.
We give love, compassion, mercy, understanding, help where needed.
You cannot measure the love God places in your heart at your rebirth, as it is unconditional.
No demands.
Jesus made it clear that if you have not love, you are none of His.
Love is the key to being a true disciple.
Beloved, keep God's word in the proper context, and you will enjoy the bible more and have more light on the subject.
A better understanding will cause spiritual growth.
God Bless your day
Jesus loves you
