Jesus versus our self-centered life.

When we are so concerned with ourselves, we lose the blessing of God's peace.

God tells us to be self-controlled, not self-centered.

Galatians 5;23-24

gentleness, self-control, against such there is no law, And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

John 14:27

"Peace I leave with you, peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

When you are looking at all that is going on in the world, you will be distressed, fearful.

If you look within yourself, you will be depressed, If you will look to Jesus you will find rest.

That old flesh called self, wants the attention of others, they work for the applause and not the cause of the gospel.

Those that do that, need to learn to express truth, and not try to impress others.

If you feel that you have to impress others, then that is a sign your fleshly self is in control.

We already have divine favor when we allow the Holy Spirit control of us.

Don't strive to make your presence known, instead strive to make your absence felt, by reflecting the nature of Jesus.

Romans 6:5

For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. (We already have divine favor)

I love what A.W. Tozer taught:

He stated that if we are dead to self, we cannot react to insults or hurts, dead people don't feel anything.

That has saved me a lot of trouble through the years, because when I wanted to respond to an unkindness or react to an insult, his words reminded me, our old self is dead, we are alive in Jesus Christ. (New birth- New life)

These are the things that self pursues:

Entertainment, amusement, self realization, self-expression, self fulfillment, self-gratification, self-satisfaction, self-determination, self is full of pride and fear.

People full of their self feel that they have a right to correct everyone else, that is the job of the Holy Spirit. Pride will push and not wait on God. Whereas humility will wait for Gods timing.

People will reap whatever they have sewn in others lives, things that brought hurt or shame and were out of God's timing for that person to receive anything. Prayer prepares a heart to receive healing.

When the ministry is the timing of the Lord, it will bear good fruit that remains.

There is a time to speak in others lives as the Holy Spirit leads, but in a heart of love and concern for the other person feelings.

The old saying:

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

Beloved, focus on Jesus, His grace and mercy and compassion, His forgiveness.

Die to self daily as Paul told us,

1Corinthians 15:31

I affirm by boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Don't be self-centered, but always focus on Jesus and the great love He has for you.

Push self out of the way, and walk in the peace and grace God has already given to you!

God Bless your day

Jesus loves you

Love in jesus

I especially liked your line "Dead people do not feel anything." Yes, how true when we are alive to Christ. A great musician once said that when you play you can play to either Impress,or INSPIRE. It is this later that we are to be int this life to others.

A great reminder of how easily we get caught up in ourselves! Only Christ can help us to turn our eyes on Him😇. The scriptures are meant for us to read and absorb🙏
