Learning to be patient when we encounter, delays, detours and interruptions.
Isn't it irritating when we start to go somewhere and we are interrupted, by a phone call, or surprise visit, or a new problem?
If God directs our steps, and He does, we should learn to be patient, and ask God why the delay.
It is possible God is protecting us from an accident or something unpleasant.
This happen to me once, when a passenger in my car was playing with a pocket knife, cut himself and I had to return home to get bandages.
Since we were a block away, we heard a loud crash, there had been a wreck right where we would have been. That knife cut was our protection, it was a delay.
It's not what we want, but what God has planned.
John 11:1-17
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of where Mary and her sister Martha. It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying "Lord behold, he whom you love is sick.
When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory that the Son of God may be glorified through it.
Now Jesus loved Martha and Mary her sister and Lazarus.
So when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.
Beloved, this is a divine delay, to bring glory to Jesus in front of the people.
(17) So when Jesus came, He found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days.
Beloved, read the entire account of Lazarus, you will find the shortest words in the bible, was "Jesus wept"
Was He weeping because of their unbelief or because, He loved Lazarus?
This we do not know. We do know He raised Lazarus from the dead.
After a purposeful delay. He knew what He would do to enhance the peoples faith.
Sometimes we don't see the purpose of delays we encounter.
We need to pray and say Lord why am I delayed? Why can I not go any further? Why did my car breakdown?
Do You have a reason I am experiencing a delay or interruption. Is there a detour I am not aware of ahead? Is this for a divine appointment?
Beloved, divine interruptions can be because there is a soul Jesus wants you to reach, to share His life with them, or to minister hope and comfort to them.
Sometimes detours or delays place us where we never dreamed we would go, yet God has a plan.
Psalm 37:23-24
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with His right hand.
Beloved, just because you have had no answers to your prayers yet, it is possible that God is stretching you to grow in your faith and trust in the Lord.
There are many delays and detours in the bible for God's people. Moses, Joseph, David, and on and on.
Do a study how God caused great delays and detours for these men of God.
See how it was to grow their trust in the Lord. To show that God Almighty has a plan. That plan was to bless many people. To bring healing, and restoration to a heart. Or to cause you to repent of something.
When you encounter a delay, ask the Lord is this from you? Do you have a plan that I am not aware of ?
We learn many things in these times of delays, detours and interruptions.
We learn to seek God for an answer. We learn to be patient to see what the Lord has planned.
We learn to trust God no matter what it may look like in our situation.
Praise God for those times you do not understand why the delays. Praise God and set your focus on Jesus.
I have learned from experience that there will be a blessing after the delay, or detour.
Something God has planned for you and as soon as you learn to trust and be patient, you will see that great blessing.
Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
Are your steps being diverted to another time and place?
God's ways are not our ways, we must believe God's word when it says He directs our steps. After all we belong to Him.
So learn to rejoice in your interruptions and delays and detours. Get excited about what God is about to do through you.
The Holy Spirit will give you peace and show you how you can bless someone else.
We must learn to walk in the Spirit, not our natural mindset.
Jesus told Martha, "did I not say to you that if you will believe you would see the glory of God?"
Beloved, look for signs that God has a greater plan than yours, wait on the Lord and see the glory of God.
God Bless your day
Jesus loves you,
Love in Jesus
Joy
