What it means to be an encourager and an exhorter.

In order to allow the gift of being an encourager to function, we must have a heart of love for others and really care for their growth in the Lord.

Exhortation is one of the communication gifts.
It means to call forward, to urge one to pursue a course of conduct.  It is to excite by words of advice, advise strongly, to admonish earnestly, yet being kind.

It is urging others forward and believing the best for them.

Encouragers will  not compromise truth in order to spare feelings, for they know that building up your Godly character is more important. They are firm, yet kind

It is their gift to build up the body of Christ, they will never leave one wounded in spirit.
A true encourager is firm yet kind. They know that others have a tendency to get stuck in their past.  They will push them forward , always pointing to Jesus and His Godly character.

Jude 2:3-4
Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation.  I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for condemnation, ungodly men who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jude had to warn the believers to watch out for these men who turned God's gift of grace into a license to sin.
We see some of that today, but God's people who love and follow Jesus will stand firm in their faith and the whole counsel of God. Truth of God's word!

Philippians 2:1-4
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Let each of you look out not only for his interest, but also for the interest of others.

This is a great picture of what an encourager is to be. Encourager-exhorter, giving of the wisdom and love God has placed in them.

Beloved, be an encourager, and exhorter to the betterment of those around you.
Encouragers are needed in every ministry. Wherever people believe in Jesus, and meet to glorify Him, there needs to be an encourager among them. Are you that one?

Barnabas was a great encourager to Paul and the church, his name means, son of encouragement.

JESUS IS NOT A GLORIFIED BUTLER, HE IS THE SON OF GOD.

SOME BELIEVERS THINK THAT JESUS IS A GLORIFIED BUTLER.  Whatever they ask for they will have, whether it is right or wrong. Read God's word and see how many times He chose to bless and not curse His people. God knows our every move and cares that we understand there is obedience to His word that will help us.
