DON'T JUST READ GOD'S WORD BECAUSE YOU FEEL OBLIGATED TO DO IT. LEARN TO LOVE IT.
Allow the Holy Spirit to draw you to the word, and teach you to love it. It's Jesus, He is the word.
Jesus is the Word!
John 1:1-4,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Beloved, Jesus is the Word, so as you read His Word you are fellowshipping with Jesus, and His word is reading you.
Every Word in our bible is God breathed.
Matthew 4:4 (Jesus in the wilderness being tempted)
"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God!
Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might no sin against You;
Beloved, there is a difference in loving something or feeling obligated.
When you feel obligated you feel it is your duty to do something.
Not something you are anxious to do. (Holy Spirit gently leads, but Satan pushes)
To be obligated is a sense of duty, legally bound to something.
Your choices are constrained out of duty. You feel compelled to act out of personal gratitude of doing the right thing.
Being bound by moral principle instead of a love for God's word.
When we take Holy Communion, we are partaking of Jesus as He said this is His body.
Just as we read God's word we are partaking of the strength Jesus has provided in His word.
John 6:63
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
Psalm 119:133,
Direct my steps by your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.
Beloved, learn to make special time to fellowship with the Lord, learn to love that time, be it a short time or longer. Just make time.
Be anxious to enter into His presence.
Funny how we have time for everything else.
When we first awake, Jesus should be on our mind and lips thanking Him for a new day of life.
Some spend more time on social media. How sad to put Jesus and His word on the back burner.
Don't let Jesus to be someone you cross off your list and feel you did your duty.
I know that doesn't apply to all believers, just those that seem to be self-centered, or possible new in the faith, and don't know any better yet.
I pray that this a wake-up call for some. Especially for those who feel obligated.
May they find a quiet place to spend real quality time with Jesus.
John 8:31-32
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him. "If you abide in My Word, you are my disciples indeed. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
It's God's truth that makes us free. We will find that truth in His Word.
Beloved we are all growing in different areas in our walk with Jesus.
We are not to feel condemned or guilty, but convicted, if this lesson applies to you in any area.
Biblical conviction is to have a firm, unwavering belief based on God's truth.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit will convict us of a sin that needs to be repented of.
Like unforgiveness, gossip, selfishness. A desire to rule and be in charge, having a controlling spirit.
We are to humble ourselves and listen to the Holy Spirits direction.
He's our teacher and comforter.
If you felt uncomfortable about this lesson, you are not alone.
While putting this lesson together there were areas that hit me also.
Thank you Jesus for your grace and mercy and compassion, and your forgiveness.
God bless your day
Jesus loves you.
