DISCIPLINE OVER WRONG DESIRES.

How many times have we bought something that we really didn't need?

Our desire was directing us. That old flesh decides we want it. Been there done that.

Matthew 6:25

Therefore I say to you not to worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; nor put on. Is not life more than clothing?

We must discipline ourselves to be content.

Yes, we see something we want, and our desire kicks in. But discipline says NO!

I knew a lady years ago that still had price tags on her clothes. Things she had never put on to wear. That's an example of lack of discipline and wrong desire.

1Timothy 6:6-8

Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 

For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing with these we shall be content.

 We can never be satisfied with clothes or things. Our satisfaction should be in the Lord.

 He satisfies our every longing.

Psalm 107:8-9 

Oh that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness And His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.  

The word for desire: is a longing, or lust, we are to bring that to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you"

Do you know what steals your seed of the word?

Mark 4:18-19

Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the Word, and the cares of this world the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering choke the word and it becomes unfruitful.

Romans 13:14,

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

The wrong desire will give birth to sin. It leads to greediness.

Obedience and discipline are the marks of one following Jesus. And you will bear fruit for the kingdom of God.

Learning to say no, to those fleshly desires, will save you a lot of trouble, and money.

Everything we have is God's gift to us. When He meets a need, (not a greed) we get all excited and Praise and thank Him.

God wants to supply for us, wait for the blessing.

When we direct the wrong desire to the Lord, and call it sin and repent, it is for our spiritual health, and it blesses our ministry and our life.

When you are self disciplined and walk in the Spirit you will be blessed. 

Allowing that old sinful nature to die daily.

Our good desire is to follow Jesus and obey all of His word. Our Desire should always put Jesus first.

Keep watch over your soul. Where is your first desire? It should be to spend time with Jesus

As I spend time with the Lord this morning, the truth of this devotional becomes so evident! I became so aware of His love and peace and provision, not so much material, but deep spiritual provision! Oh, how He loves you and me! Thank you, Mama Joy, for this important signpost.

WHEN INDIFFERENCE ENDS, THAT IS WHEN LOVE BEGINS.

  Don't look for love to come to you, instead, look  where you can give it. Galatians 5:13 For you brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. If you have been buried with Christ in baptism and raised in new life, then stop looking at the old you. Give the love that you always wanted to experience before you met Jesus. ARE WE USING THE AUTHORITY AND WEAPONS, JESUS HAS GIVEN TO US?

Beloved, sometimes we allow things to enter our life, that we need to use our spiritual authority and our weapons on to get free to do the works of the Lord. John 14:12-13 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
