WHAT WERE THE NEW COMMANDMENTS THAT JESUS GAVE TO HIS DISCIPLES? PART 2

Jesus has broken down the commandments, so that the average person can understand them.

Since He fulfilled all of them and did not abolish them, He wanted to clarify what they really mean.

The Pharisee's had added so much of their own sayings and traditions to the law, that Jesus had to clarify what was truth and what was from God.

Love and humility, seem to be the important commands. Works follow love and humility.

Matthew 6:19-21

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

But lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

Don't set your heart on riches of this world, for they have wings and will fly away.

Matthew 7:12

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the prophets. (The golden rule)

Beloved, can you see how Jesus expounded on the commandments so they were easily understood.

Matthew 7:13-14

"Enter by the narrow gate;  for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

Th narrow gate is the gate of humility. You must bow down to get in through it.

You must be humble enough to admit you are a sinner and need Jesus to save you and wash away all your sin.

That His blood sacrifice is the only way to be redeemed. Freed from sin and it's desires.

Matthew 23:11-12

But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.  And whoever exalts himself will be humbled,  and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

It's there again, the warning to be humble.

Matthew 5:27-29

"You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not commit adultery.

But I say to you whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

Then Jesus spoke about the eye causing you to sin. He gave an extreme message here.

It is your eyes that are looking, that feed the desire, look away and ask the Lord to help you make a covenant with your eyes.

I love how Jesus cut right to the heart of the matter.

Luke 6:35-37

"But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High.  For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

Over and over the Lord made it clear that it was not as we believed it to be.

So He made it clear as He expounded on the Ten commandments.

We are to forgive and not judge.  We are to give, we are to wash each others feet, we are to go the second mile, without being asked.

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spoke to them saying,

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (The Trinity)

"teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen

This is the command that Jesus gave the disciples before Jesus went to heaven.

Beloved, there are so many commandments that Jesus gave, these are just a few.

Study them, pray over them and ask the Holy Spirit where you are weak and need to change in your thinking.

Where have you been compromising? Where have you been lax in your walk in the Lord?

These are questions we need to ask ourselves often. Am I drifting away?  Am I staying in my comfort zone?

Get up and GO!! and do what Jesus has said.

You will be glad you did.  Blessings follow obedience.

God bless your day

Jesus loves you

Amen and Yes!!!!! Just had this same conversation with a couple brothers in the Lord just yesterday at a meeting we went to. Praise God!!!
Learning to love like Jesus loved is the task that will only be accomplished when we decrease and allow Him to increase! Not as a work of the flesh but a genuine work of His spirit doing in us what we could never accomplish on our own. Bless you, Mama Joy, for this timely reminder!
