UNDERSTANDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

There are 86 references of the Kingdom of God in the gospels.

Jesus used this phrase many times while teaching the people.  He used the Kingdom of heaven also.

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 4:

From that time Jesus began to preach and say,

"Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 1:14-15

Now after John was put into prison,  Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,  saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe the gospel.

We enter the kingdom of God when we receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord.

Jesus made it clear, that the kingdom of God is within you.

It is not a physical location, it is a spiritual place.

The kingdom of God is not church, but church is the place where you can experience the kingdom of God.

Luke 17:20-21

Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come,

"The kingdom of God does not come by observation;  nor will they say, See here! or see there!  For the kingdom of God is within you."

People need to see the kingdom of God in God's children.

Until Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom here on the earth.

His children are to reveal the kingdom of God on this earth and in their lives, and the lives of others.

Romans 14:17

for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The kingdom of God needs to be experienced in our houses of worship, and in our fellowship gatherings.

It should be evident that Jesus lives inside of us.

Hebrews 12:28

Therefore, since we have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

Galatians  5:19-21

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hared, contentions, jealousies, outburst of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like, of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in the time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I love how Paul, adds the fruit of the Spirit, (Gal 5:22)

following the reprimand, of what they are not to practice. (Keep doing without repenting)

Could they fall into any of these as a believer?

Yes, but they are to repent and come back into right standing with God.

The word PRACTICE, emphasizes the continuance in those sins.

They will have no peace, or joy, they will in fact be miserable.

As believers their conscience will convict them, and remind them of there sin.

Beloved, we as believers, have the kingdom of God inside of us.

When we pray for others, that kingdom is at work through the Holy Spirit.

Mark 16:17

"And these signs will follow those who believe;  In My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;  they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them;  they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover."

Know who you are and who you have living inside of you.

I used that scripture on a mission trip, when I was handed a glass of water with red worms swimming in it.

The team said, we will get sick,

I quoted the word of God and drank, I did not get sick, but they did.

Paul handled a serpent, and shook it off into the fire. (Acts 28:5) Just as Jesus said in Mark 16

God's word is true and powerful and active, use it! (Hebrews 4:12) Pray it, speak it, obey it.

Colossians 3:16-17

Let the word of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Beloved, realize what you have in the life of Christ, because you belong to Jesus.

You have the Holy Spirit inside of you, leading and guiding you into all that is yours in the Lord.

The Kingdom of God is within you!!

Act upon that fact and see God move mightily in your situations.

When we pray the Lords prayer, "thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.

(The original says IN earth, not on earth.  Look up the old translations of the bible) before they changed it.

We are the earthen vessels that the kingdom comes in.

God bless your day

Jesus loves you.

love in Jesus

I was meditating on and praying the Lord's prayer this morning on the elliptical - never heard before that "in" was the word originally used in "thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven." I may incorporate "For the kingdom of God is within you" into my next blog post. Thanks, Joy!
