Prayers that are from our heart and not our head. Part 2
There are four kinds of prayers.
1. Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. (ACTS)
Prayers of Adoration are when we praise God for who He is. The Almighty One, Holy and full of goodness and mercy. We worship God.
Psalm 111.
I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
2. Prayers of Confession.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
These are prayers that we say when we search our heart and become transparent with God about our failures and weaknesses.
In the book of James we are to pray for one another and confess to one other.
Someone you believe is full of the Lord and His word. (Psalm 107:20)
James 5:16
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
Healed of body, soul and spirit.
Proverbs 28:13
He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
I have found that when I confess to a brother or sister in the Lord, that they also have something that needs confessing. So we agree in prayer and confess to one another.
3. Prayer of Thanksgiving.
1 Thessalonians 5:16
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Rejoicing and giving of thanks go together.
Being thankful makes us like Jesus. When He prayed, He gave the Father thanks.
John 11:41-42 (Lazarus raised)
Then when they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said "Father, I thank You that you have heard Me. "And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.
Prayers of thanksgiving are to thank God for our salvation, family and provision, our health and fellowship with those who are like minded.
To thank Jesus who is our intercessor who always hears our hearts cry.
We are always to be grateful that we can pray and be heard.
Being thankful is an emotion when our heart is full. Expressing pleasure and satisfaction.
Being grateful is an attitude of appreciation no matter what our circumstances may be.
4. The prayer of Supplication.
Supplication are prayers and request that we Pray for others and their needs.
Whereas making a request for ourselves is a petition.
Intercessions are request on behalf of others, we intercede for a situation when the person does not know what to pray for their circumstance.
We are a body and need to intercede for each other, when one hurts we all hurt.
Beloved, praying from your heart for others is putting yourself in their place. Feeling what they feel and helping them see the good that can come when you agree in prayer.
Prayers from our head and not our heart, are prayers with no life.
Prayers from our heart carry life as the Holy Spirit lives there.
Beloved, we all need a heart transplant from Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives us a new heart full of love, compassion, mercy, kindness.
A heart full of emotion and feeling for others needs.
A great example of this, is the story of the Good Samaritan. (Luke 10:33-35)
Putting yourself in the other persons shoes, is being Christlike and revealing the heart of Jesus.
