The Spirit and the word.
For so long a time, the Holy Spirit was rarely preached on. Every kind of self-help was preached.
The Holy Spirit and the word are inseparable. They are always meant to be together.
Remember the word without Spirit dries up.
In the parable of the sower,
Matthew 16: 3-6
Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying:
Behold a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
"Some fell in stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, because they had no root they withered away. (dried up)
We are told that when the word has no root system it withers away. It dries up. A root system is given by the Holy Spirit. Our root is Jesus!!
The Spirit without the word, blows up!
This is all emotion in control, no room for the Holy Spirit. They say it is the Spirit, but it is all flesh!
When we have the Holy Spirit and the word together, we will grow up!!
So when we only have the word, we will dry up.
Only the the Spirit, we will blow up,
When we have the Word and the Spirit, we will grow up!
We must acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is the author of the word of God, as he moved on men to write the bible.
If we leave the Holy Spirit out then we are just reading good stories.
When we acknowledge the Holy Spirit, we have life giving words and receive wisdom and understanding.
When we include the Holy Spirit in our studying of God's word, we will have peace, joy, healing of our mind and our body, restoration.
When I read God's word I always ask the Holy Spirit to reveal something new and fresh to me. Usually from scriptures that I have read for years, but I now gain a deeper understanding of more of the life of Jesus to live by and follow.
I love to read Psalm 119, it is full of wisdom from the word. Much about the Word.
Psalm 119:17
Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.
Psalm 119:57-58
You are my portion O Lord; I have said that I will keep Your words. I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word.
Psalm 119:103-105
How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I gain understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.
Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments.
Psalm 119:133
Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.
You get the idea of how important it is to know God's word as the Holy Spirit teaches you.
The word of God will reveal the thoughts and intents of our heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Jesus said, " The words I speak to you are Spirit and they are life".
Beloved, always include the Holy Spirit when reading God's word. Talk to Him, he is always ready to answer you in your spirit.
An example of the power of God's word during WWII.
Our troops were surrounded by the enemy and saw no way out, they were at the edge of the water, but one soldier starting quoting Psalm 91, and out of nowhere came a boat and got them to safety.
Never under estimate the power of God's word to His children.
Psalm 119:89
Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations.
Psalm 119:130
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Beloved always include the Holy Spirit in your reading of God's word.
The next thought for the day will be all about Easter.
God bless your day
