WE ARE AN EARTHEN VESSEL, THAT HAS A TREASURE INSIDE.
THERE ARE SOME TODAY THAT SEE THEMSELVES AS GOD. THEY SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT WE ARE AN EARTHEN VESSEL.
CHOSEN BY GOD TO CARRY HIS MESSAGE OF SALVATION.
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not us.
We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed- always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
We who live are always delivered to death for Jesus sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal body.
Daily our flesh is to die, so that the life of Jesus in us, can be manifested.
This book of 2 Corinthians, reveals to us how Paul has grown in his understanding of the things of God.
Did Paul cry--yes! was Paul sorrowful? -yes! Did Paul suffer?-yes greatly, was Paul burdened?-yes!
and even despaired of life, Why did this great Apostle suffer so much?
Acts 9: 15-16.
But the Lord said to him (Ananias) "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My Name before the Gentiles, kings and children of Israel.
"For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."
When we see Paul's weaknesses we will recognize our own.
Yes, the treasure is the power of Jesus Christ is in earthen vessels. This is God's choice, His ways are not our ways.
Would we have chosen the very man that persecuted the church in its infancy? Beat and lead Christians to their death, going from house to house and imprisoning them, held to be killed. No! of course we wouldn't.
But God did and He was with Paul who once was Saul. Saul was cruel and cold hearted, Paul was tenderhearted and full of love and wisdom.
God trained Paul by the Holy Spirit and opened doors that only God could open for him to share the gospel.
He redeemed Paul from dire circumstances, and even allowed Paul to see some of the mysteries of heaven.
In the original Lord's prayer Jesus said "Thy kingdom come thy will be done IN earth as it is in heaven.
Yes, man changed the Lord's prayer to on earth, but Jesus was speaking about us, we are the earthen vessel that the kingdom is to come into.
Remember Jesus said, the kingdom is within you?
Next time you read the Lord's prayer think about the context. It is about us! not this earth.
We are the earthen vessel Jesus chose to live in, even with all our faults, trespasses and mistakes, none of it took Jesus by surprise, He had lived in an earthen body, so He fully understood, that's precisely why He died in our place.
We can start over with a clean slate, because of the blood sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross.
If you have never invited Jesus into your heart and life, He is waiting for you to call out to Him, He will never force His way into your life, He waits for you to see that you desperately need Him.
Because without Jesus we are dead in our trespasses and sins.
He came to save the sinner, and to give him or her new life. It's a choice you must make.
He offers salvation freely through His grace, So why not give Jesus your life if you have never done so?
God bless you
