WHY DOES GOD ALLOW OFFENCES TO COME INTO OUR LIFE? Part 1

 Offences must come. Part 1

Matthew 18:7

"Woe to the world because of offences!

For offences must come, but woe to the man by whom the offence comes!

Offences come because there are things in our heart hidden to us.

The offence will  reveal what is in our heart as how we react to it, and that we need to allow the Holy Spirit to make those changes in our soul.

The word Woe, it a very strong word. It denotes righteous anger.

Because of the stubborn blindness of God's people. Jesus used it on the Pharisees.

Like 17:1-4

Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offences should come, but woe to him through whom they come!

It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Take heed to yourselves, if your brother sins against you, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.  " and if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying I repent, you shall forgive him.

Beloved, when we are offended, it is our flesh (that old sinful nature) that gets offended.

We are to die to self daily, because dead people don't get offended.

When we feel offended, it starts in our mind, then it works its way to our senses. Now I don't just think I am offended, but I feel offended.

2Corinthians 10:4-5

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

If we don't cast the thought down, it will work its way into our soul.

Where our emotions will take over. Then the old dead you comes up out of the grave.

When we allow offences to travel into our emotions it will reveal anger and if not dealt with the anger will develop into bitterness.

Hebrews 12:14-15

Pursue peace with all people. and holiness without which no one will see the Lord;  looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God;  lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.

Unresolved offences will effect those around us.

God did not create these bodies to handle bitterness. It will cause pain, and headaches, dizziness and sickness in our body. Our blood pressure will rise, and sickness now has an entrance. FORGIVE AND LET GO!!

Jesus made that clear to those that He healed, to go and sin no more lest something worse come upon them. When He healed the paralytic he said your sins are forgiven. (Matthew 9:5)

We wonder why we are not feeling well.

Beloved, we will all get offended in our life at some time, repent quickly.

Your flesh was offended and it must not come out of the grave. Dead and buried.

We were buried with Christ and raised in newness of life. Dead people have no feelings of offence.

Yes we are human, but we are also superhuman, because of Jesus living inside of us. Because of the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of us, He is there to remind us who we are in Christ Jesus our Lord. A new creation.

Your new born again Spirit will recognize the danger of holding onto a grudge, a slight, and allowing it to become an offence.

We are to show love to the one who offended us.

Do something nice for them. Show that you have the love of Christ in you.

If they are a true believer, God will deal with their unkind words and actions.

Ephesians 4:31-32

Let all bitterness, wrath and clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

It is not easy to overlook an offence, but we can do it when we ask for the help of the Holy Spirit.

When we are weak, God in us is strong.

We need to remember to deny self and take up the cross and follow Jesus.

Next week part 2

More on how we are to deal with an offense.

God bless your day

Jesus loves you

Love in Jesus

God bless
