BOAZ, OUR HEAVENLY TYPE OF CHRIST
It all started when Elimelech left Bethlehem, and traveled to Moab because of the famine.
(Moab is our modern day Jordan)
He and his two sons and Naomi his wife. Their sons names were named, Mahlon, and Chilion.
Those names mean, sickly and wasting away. They and their father died in Moab. And were buried there.
The sons had wives from Moab named Orpah, and Ruth. Of whom Naomi had taught them about the God of the Jews, her Hebrew God. (God had a plan)
Ruth 1:4
Now they took wives of the women of Moab; Orpah and Ruth they dwelt there about 10 years.
Naomi heard that God had visited His people and provided bread. So Naomi decided to return to Bethlehem.
Orpah went back to her people but Ruth would not leave Naomi.
Ruth 1:16-17
"Entreat me not to leave you or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge I will lodge: Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.
Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more. also, if anything but death parts you and me. (We should think this way when belonging to Jesus)
The name Ruth, means compassionate friend.
When they went to Bethlehem it was harvest time.
Just as it is always harvest time for those that know and serve Jesus.
The story is about Law and Grace. Look for the hidden treasures in this book. Look for Jesus, He is there in all Boaz does.
As Ruth went to glean in the fields of barley and wheat, she met Boaz, Naomi's near relative.
Ruth was protected by Boaz, He told her to not glean anywhere else, but in his field.(think about this)
Plus, he gave her favor and left hands full of purpose for her, just as our Lord does for us.
Boaz could not redeem Naomi and Ruth, because the nearest kinsman had priority, (Mr. Law)
But He refused to redeem them, as he would lose his inheritance. So he told Boaz that he could go ahead and redeem them.
Law could not redeem, it could only point out sin, but God's Grace could redeem and does.
The law in the nearest kinsman, could not redeem, but the grace and favor on Boaz made it so that He would redeem Naomi and Ruth and all their land.
Boaz was a comforter and provider with a loving heart. Just like Jesus!
Ruth 2:14
Now Boaz said to her at mealtime, "Come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed parched grain to her; and she ate and was satisfied, and kept some back. (For Naomi, her mother-in law)
Beloved, I want you to see Jesus in all that Boaz does for Ruth, who will become his bride.
Boaz a type of Christ and Ruth represents the church.
Jesus protects us and provides for us and meets all our needs.
Philippians 4:19
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
So Boaz as close redeemer married Ruth.
When Boaz and Ruth were married they had a son named Obed. The Father of Jesse, the father of David.
Matthew 1:3-6. Ruth is listed in the linage of Jesus.
Lessons learned.
1. God does not need my help. He does need me to cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
2. Any help God gets from me, it gets in the way, and can delay the best for me.
3. Obed, Boaz and Ruth means worship and serving.
Beloved, it all began with a funeral, Like Jesus crucifixion, Naomi's family died.
And it ended with a wedding. Just like we as Christ's bride will one day have a wedding with our Lord.
He will say "Come sit here beloved, and we will share the marriage supper of the Lamb"
Take time and read the four chapters of the book of Ruth and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
Beloved, when you read God's word, always look for Jesus. You can find Him in every book of the bible, or at least His Godly nature.
God Bless your day
JESUS LOVES YOU
