WE SHOULD PRAY OFTEN AND DAILY AND BE THANKFUL PART 2
When we spend time in prayer our spirit is at peace and our mind is at rest.
John 6:63
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life.
We can pray for every area of our life, asking for healing, health, provision.
We pray when we first come to Jesus as our Savior. We pray for wisdom in a given situation. We pray for any need that comes up.
Praying off and on most of the day and just communicating with our Lord.
Including Him in all we set our hands and heart to do.
God loves you and loves to hear your voice calling to Him, He loves the fact that you made Him part of your day.
There was an old song we used to sing, "Prayer is the key to heaven, and faith unlocks the door."
When we include Jesus in our day, we are expressing our love to Him and the fact that we know He loves us and cares about all that concerns us.
God's word tells us to pray with and IN the Spirit.
There are many gifts of the Spirit. One of those gifts is praying in tongues.
1Corinthians 12:10-11
to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
I have heard preachers say it is the gift of unknown tongues, but it is well known to God, only unknown to us.
1Corinthians 14:2
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him, however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
God's word tell us that this gift of tongues is praying IN the Spirit.
Jude 1:20-21
But you beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying IN the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
1Corintians 14:4
He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies speaks edifies the church.
Beloved, when we edify ourselves we are building ourselves up spiritually. This will keep us in the love of God.
I heard a message from a pastor of mine, He was upset about something said at church. When he got home he sat in his chair and began to pray in the Spirit. He said immediately he felt the anger leave and a love flood his soul.
Beloved, this gift from the Holy Spirit will keep us in the love of God. Out of the flesh but in the Spirit.
Prayer is so important. We pray when we receive Jesus as our Lord, we pray when we need wisdom.
My precious Pastor, Jack Hayford taught us how important it is to pray in tongues. He is in heaven now, but the lessons have stuck with me.
Praying and Praising the Lord is so important to our spiritual life.
It keeps us built up in the love of God. We experience His fullness.
If you don't have this gift of praying in tongues, just ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.
Acts 19:1-6
And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Epheses, and finding some disciples he asked them, "did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him "We have not heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." and he said to them, into what then were you baptized?" So they said "Into John's baptism."
Then Paul said John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that should believe on Him who will come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
I promise you, your bible will come alive, you will see things that you had missed before.
Do you have to pray in other tongues? No, but you get to.
Prayer is so needed in the body of Christ.
Praying in the Spirit has nothing to do with your mind. This has been scientifically proven. When you pray in the Spirit it bypasses your brain.
Check it out for yourself.
Beloved, the miss-use of tongues is no excuse for the dis-use.
Mark 16:16-19 NKJV, KJV
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will follow those who believe;
In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
(Paul took up a serpent and was not hurt)
Beloved, those are words of Jesus.
Prayer is powerful, and we have seen some great healings of minds and bodies.
Pray and talk to God, He loves you so much that He sent Jesus to die in your place.
Pray in the Spirit (tongues) and it will open a whole new world to you. We don't always know what to pray for, by the Spirit will make intercession for us. Now that's a blessing.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
God bless your day
Jesus loves you
