iT IS A GOOD TIME TO EXAMINE OUR INTENTIONS AND MOTIVES.
As we watch fall set in, we see the trees colors change and the leaves starting to fall.
Let that be our reminder to check our hearts motives and intentions.
Have you been boasting about your work or service or ministry?
It is all the work of the Holy Spirit working in your life to bring glory to God.
Beloved, this is a type of pride that sneaks up on us.
It is our human nature to sound good and look good or we wouldn't bother to comb our hair or pick out our clothes.
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, right?
2Corinthians 4:7
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
It is good for us to evaluate why we do certain things. Not looking for the negative things, but helpful things that will cause us to reflect and see our motives.
Are the things you do bringing glory to God or to you? Are you pointing to Jesus, or your good works?
Make sure that your good intentions are to lift up the Lord Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. That they are in God's will and that God gets the glory.
Beloved, if we die daily to self then our motives will be pure. Everything we say and do will point to Jesus, giving honor to Him.
2Corinthians 4:16-17
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
When the Holy Spirit convicts us of something, it is for our good so that we may grow in our faith.
If you feel ashamed and guilty that is the work of the enemy, he puts condemnation on us. There is a big difference between being convicted, and feeling condemned.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore NOW no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
The gentle conviction of the Holy Spirit will bring change in our life. We will feel grateful that we were able to realize that we needed that change.
Proverbs 28:13
He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
A good heart check-up is a good healthy spiritual thing. It will keep us humble before God, just as a little child.
Matthew 18:3
"Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as a little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Beloved, we are just passing through this world, we no longer belong to it, We live by God's word, that is what gives us the light to walk in. That's what will reveal the hidden things in our heart.
Luke 8:17
For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.
Luke 12:2
Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
Beloved, be faithful in your heart check-ups. Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the things we are not aware of.
Believe me, we all have a little something hidden in our heart that needs to be brought out to the light of God's word.
Let the Holy Spirit reveal any unforgiveness, envy, jealousy, gossip, judging without knowing the truth of a thing, these will cause confusion, a brain fog! and lack of spiritual growth.
James 3:14-16
But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
As Paul said, we all stumble in many things, so in order for us to grow and mature in Jesus, we need to do a heart check-up periodically.
Like the Autumn leaves that fall off the trees, so we need certain things to fall off of us so that we can have new growth, and the beauty of the Lord shine through us.
God bless your day
Jesus loves you
