Do you have a love relationship with Jesus, or a religious obligation?

Do you have a love relationship with Jesus?

Here is what one looks like coming from God's word.

Psalm 63:1-5

O God, You are my God;  Early will I seek You; My soul thirst for You, My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.

So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory,  Because of Your lovingkindness is better than life,  My lips shall praise You.  Thus I will bless You while I live;  I will lift up my hands in Your name.  My soul shall be satisfied as the marrow and fatness, my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

That describes a loving relationship with God.

David expressed what our hearts should feel in our love relationship with Jesus.

Ask yourself, do I have a love relationship with Jesus or a religious obligation?

Do I have to go to church or do I want to be around my brothers and sisters who love Jesus?

We are all in this together. With different gifts and callings.  We need each other.

A religious obligation is to add Jesus to your to do list for the day.

You feel obligated to pray and read His word or you think God will not be pleased with you. Wrong !!

God is pleased with you no matter what time you spend in His word and prayer. He's looking at your heart.

Works of the flesh says I must do this or I will miss Gods blessing.  Obligation!

God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ,

Beloved, it is not a duty, it is a motive of our heart to spend quality time with Jesus. It is a privilege to be able to have the blessing we already have.

Our love for God drives us to Him, in worship and praise.  It is a joy to have the privilege's of opening God's word and learn more about Him.

It is not about us, it is about Jesus and His place in our life.

When you love someone you enjoy their fellowship and company. Your flesh longs to be near them. To let them know you love them, right?

Years ago we use to sing Psalm 63:1-5 in church, it is God's word that carries power.

When you spend time in worship and praise, your heart will open up and the right motive will be there. The motive of love.

It's about LOVE. It is the motive of love that drives us to the presence of God.

God knows we are human and will make mistakes, He already took care of those on His cross. All our sins, past, present and future were already taken care of.

Do we have times when the Holy Spirit will convict us? Yes. we confess and move on.  We confess so that the enemy cannot use anything against us.  That door is closed as soon as we realize where we were missing it.

Jesus wants the motivation of our heart to be love for Him. When you love someone, you want to please them.

Does reading God's word excite you?  When you have something you have read for years all of the sudden become alive to you?  (Hebrews 4:12-15)

Beloved, don't allow the enemy to make you feel guilty.  He is the one that makes you feel obligated.

Talk to Jesus from your heart, He will show you how to make time, good quiet quality time to spend with Him.

For me, I rise before dawn, I love my special time with the Lord. I feel energized and full of life waiting to see what the Lord has planned for today.

Psalm 5:3 ( Another psalm we use to sing)

Give ear to my words O Lord, consider my meditation, Give heed to my voice of my cry,  My King and my God, for unto You I will pray, my voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord, in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

As long as we are looking up, and expecting God's goodness, we can rest in His love for us.

Proverbs 8:17

I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. (Wisdom speaking)

Beloved, let your motive be a heart filled with Love for God and His word. Remember Jesus is the living word. Never feel obligated, feel blessed and loved by Jesus.

God bless your day

Jesus loves you

Love in Jesus

Joy
