Have you remembered Mary in the Christmas message?
Mary was a teenage girl, virgin, and asked by heaven to bear the Savior of the world.
Yes, she was betrothed to Joseph, but in the Jewish culture, you were betrothed for a while before the marriage, took place.
They marry, then the groom goes to prepare a home for them, before they come together. Then He comes to get His bride.
Sound familiar? Our Lord has left to prepare a place for us, then He will come and get His bride.
In Mary's day women were second class citizens. The men were # 1.
Mary had already found favor with God before the angel came to her.
She loved the Lord and followed His word.
Mathew 1:18-21
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows:
After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.
While he thought about these things , behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,"Joseph son on David do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you will call His name Jesus (Emmanuel , God with us) for He will save His people from their sins."
Read the whole story, Joseph didn't have relations with Mary until she brought forth her first born Son.
After that Jesus had brothers.
Beloved, honor Mary, she is blessed among women, she is just as much a part of the story as is Joseph and Jesus.
She was a young girl who loved God and served Him. She was obedient to the voice of the Lord, even though she knew she would be a laughing stock around others.
She is to be honored, but not worshiped, only worship God.
Mary had so much to go through, yet she stayed faithful to the Lord.
Remember at the cross Jesus said to John "behold thy mother?
That was because Jesus' brothers were not saved yet, so John took good care of Mary. Jesus wanted His mother with a believer, one who loved God and was obedient to His word.
After the Resurrection of Jesus, His brothers came to faith. James, Jude, and others in the family.
Beloved, remember Mary, she was the mother of our Lord, and she was hand picked by God Himself to enter this earth as a human being, yet He was still God in the flesh.
Remember Mary, Jesus and Joseph, God had also chosen Joseph to raise Jesus. What an honor!!
Read the whole story in the gospels, they will shed more light and details of the Christmas story.
God Bless your day, Celebrate Jesus!! He is the reason for the season,
Jesus loves you
Love in Jesus
Joy
