Have you ever thought about how great and merciful our God is?
Our Lord went to great lengths to reveal that His mercy is unending. His mercy spans the ages.
Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loves us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (By grace you have been saved) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
When Jesus was crucified and the three days He was in the earth, He preached to the spirits of Noah's day, letting them know He has conquered sin and rebellion.
1Peter 3:18-20
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formally were disobedient, when once Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
Colossians 3:14-15
Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Having disarmed principalities and powers.
He made a spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
God is so longsuffering with us and so full of mercy, He is waiting for us to sound and act like Jesus did while He was on the earth.
Our transformation is taking place. We start out as a worm, but God transforms us to a butterfly. Metamorphose.
Just as the worm goes through major changes, so we also go through major changes in our attitude and our thinking.
The worm goes in a cocoon being transformed into a beautiful butterfly, we are in the cocoon of the Holy Spirit, if you will, being transformed to be like Jesus.
Much movement and pulling and struggling is going on in the transformation that is taking place. End result will be rest and peace and beauty.
Our nature is being changed by the Holy Spirit and it will show especially in how we live in Christ.
Believe me we will need God's mercy as we go through the growing process.
2Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed unto the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
He knows it will take time and effort on our part to submit to God as the Holy Spirit does His work in us. His mercy has been extended to us in this growth process.
Psalm 89:14
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.
Psalm 100:5
For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 108:4
For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches the clouds.
Beloved, learn to appreciate how merciful our God is towards us.
For His mercies are new every morning.
Now that certainly is enough to praise Him for, and sing of His mercy.
Psalm 101:1
I will sing of the mercy and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
God bless your day
