We need a balance in God's word, and not just hear the sweet stuff.
Too much sweet preaching will cause truth decay. We need to hear the good parts as well as the warnings to us, they are all part of the whole that is there to protect us.
Jesus loves us, but He also disciplines us for our good, so that we can grow and be more like Him.
Who would not like to walk in all the blessings of the Lord? That will take commitment on our part. Obedience to the word of God.
The blessings are there for us, if we will walk according to God's word. Obey the voice of the Spirit, and follow Jesus.
Our salvation is one hundred percent positive, our walk in that salvation is another matter.
First Jesus becomes Savior in our life, then He becomes Lord of our life as we walk out all that He has placed in us.
We need the warnings in God's word so that we will not be deceived. Especially in these last hours.
Great deception is in this world. We are not to be a part of it in any way. We are to discern what is of God and what is not.
We do that by reading and studying God's word. Not picking out just our favorite scriptures, but reading the whole chapter. Understanding the full context.
There is no room for compromise with Christians that love Jesus. We must stand firm and know all the counsel of God. The positive and the negative.
The trials and tests that we must walk through, and knowing they are little by little dealing with our flesh. God is patient with us, He knows we are but human.
When we need a spiritual spanking, accept it and rejoice that we are so loved, God cannot allow us to go too far from Him.
Hebrews 12:7-11
If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of Spirits and live?
For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Beloved, as you can see there should be some negative messages, to keep us in line with God's word. All the counsel of God. I know when I have crossed the line in thought or deed, and I am sure you do also.
We need to be warned, and corrected, and taken to the woodshed so to speak.
If the preaching you are listening to does not bring a conviction to your heart and cause you to repent (change your mind and actions) then you will not grow up in the Lord.
2 Timothy 4: 1-4
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom. Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
We need both the correction and comfort of the word. We need to hear the positive and negative. The sweet and the not so sweet parts of God's word. (Read Psalm 119, all of it)
God has everything in a balance for those of us, those who have a desire to grow and learn more and more of our new life in Christ. It is new every morning.
Remember that, Grace is what we don't deserve, Mercy is sparing us from things we do deserve, blessings are when God gives us both.
God bless your day
