WALKING ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS WITH HEAVY HEARTS. PART 2.

Beloved, times are ahead of us, just like the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Times when we also will have a heavy heart from things that disappoint us. Times when we believed or thought we did, until our world was shattered. Do we look for Jesus at a time when He seems to not be there? He is always there. Jesus loved those disciples and wanted to teach them about Himself. Beloved, reread the account of the Road to Emmaus.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you something you might have missed that is just for you. Something personal that will help you grow in your understanding of the account about Emmaus. Remember that these disciples only saw Jesus as a prophet.  Inviting Jesus into their house was the key to seeing Jesus as Lord.  As He broke bread with them then and only then were their eyes opened. When Jesus opened their eyes that He is the risen Lord, it changed their perspective and gave them joy and peace. They were no longer heavy hearted. They couldn't wait to get b...

WALKING ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS WITH HEAVY HEARTS. Part 1.

Walking on the road to Emmaus   with heavy hearts, and very disappointed after Jesus was crucified and resurrected. Cleopas, one of the disciples entered in with a conversation with Jesus, not knowing that it was Him. Luke 24:13-35 (Read the whole account) Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day (after the resurrection) to a village seven miles from Jerusalem. And as they talked together of all these things which has happened. So it was while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.   But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. 17. And Jesus said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad. Jesus noticed how sad they were and that they only saw Jesus as a prophet. So as they walked Jesus began to quote the word of God to them, and beginning at Moses and the prophets, Jesus expounded the scriptures concerning Himself. As they came to the house at...

A DAY OF REST IS ALWAYS NEEDED TO REFRESH OUR BODY, AND MIND AND SPIRIT.

Jesus said to come to Him, and He will give you rest. Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all you who labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. After God finished His work in creation, He ceased His work at that time. Genesis 2:1-2 (New King James) Thus the heavens and the earth, all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. The Hebrew word used here means to be at peace, and settled from activity. When we are at rest, we are quiet and composed and peaceful. Peaceful with God and others.  The Lord gives us perfect peace and rest for our mind, will and emotions. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep  him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. When we are at rest, we are relea...

WHAT IS ETERNAL LIFE AND EVERLASTING LIFE?

God's word makes it clear, just what eternal life is. And when we receive everlasting life. John 17:1-3 (Jesus's prayer to the Father) Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said; "Father the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give them eternal life, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Beloved this makes it clear, that eternal life is to know God, and Jesus Christ. To know God is to be intimately acquainted with Him. To know Him is to obey what He has given to us in His word. Starting with His commandments. When we look at Jesus, and all that the Holy Spirit has written about Him, we know that is eternal life. 1John 2:3-5 Now by this we know that we know Him, IF we keep His commandments.  He who says, "I know H...

WE RECEIVED A NEW HEART WITH OUR NEW BIRTH IN JESUS.

When God said that we are a new creation, that meant we received a new heart.  A pure heart, uncontaminated from the world. Yes, in the old testament we had a wicked heart, but when Jesus saved us, He gave us a new heart. Ezekiel 36:26-27 "I will give you a new heart and put a new heart within you. "I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My judgments and do them. We use to have a wicked and deceitful heart, before we were born again of God's Spirit. Beloved, when you hear preaching quoting Jerimiah 17:9,  About a wicked heart, that is not for you, Jesus did not put a wicked heart in you, but a pure new heart. Yes, before we were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, we had a wicked heart.  But NOW,  we have a new heart, where Jesus lives inside of us. Beloved, if you believe your heart is wicked, you will not be at peace, you will be unsettled in your mind, caus...

THE SEVEN P'S WE SHOULD KNOW AND FOLLOW AS BELIEVERS IN JESUS CHRIST.

When we first open our eyes to a new day, we should have a heart of praise. 1. Praise.  Psalm 71:6 By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother's womb.  My praise shall be continually of You. Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day I will praise you, Because of Your righteous judgments. 2. Pray. We are to PUSH, P ray U ntil S omething H appens.  Prayers should continually be going up to God, for our family, friends, churches that preach the truth of the gospel. Our government, and all world leaders. Pray for their salvation, wisdom and protection. 3. Position.  We are to know that we are accepted, loved and cared for by the Lord. We are His prize position. Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of His glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the beloved. Our position, is that we are seated with Christ. Ephesians 2:4-6 But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us ...

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED TO REVEAL GOD'S GOODNESS.

What leads us to repentance? It is the goodness of God. Romans 2:4 (Speaking of judging others) Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Sometimes the good things of God come our way when we are not expecting the blessing. We saw ourselves as needy in an area of our walk, but didn't expect God to answer in the way that He did. God over answered our prayers. A good example is Paul and Silas (Acta 16:1-40) Paul and Silas being in the prison, didn't know what would happen to them. As they sang to the Lord miracles occurred. Philippians 1:12-14 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the ...
